I do ask why the best of 3 1st round.
The only Nanaimo Timbermen player (JrA) still in the playoffs is Matt Wray playing for the Brampton Excelsiors of the OLA JrA league.
They are involved in their 1st round best of 7 series.
Note that the BC league did have best of 5 series for the 1st round last year.
If the league doesn't believe the 1st round is important they should choose the route the WLA has gone and only have 4 teams make the playoffs. If the 1st round has value it should be a round.
I suspect the issue is that teams don't want to travel to the Island unless it is on a weekend. Travel is too much of a challenge for teams that are used to driving 30 minutes across the city to play an opponent. It's interesting to look at the games remaining in the series I mentioned above - in which Matt Wray is playing.

500 kilometres separate Brampton and Akwesasne. That's right, 1000 kilometres round trip to play 1 game. And 4 games in 5 nights should the series go 7 games.
I'd really like to know why the 1st round this year is only 3 games - and if is for travel reasons one word says it all - Lame....
